Here's a preview for Mondays Plein air

Monday plein air on Pueblitos Street 10 am. to 1:00 pm.. This is just a bit of the street. The shadows look very dark in this photo but we will be there and can gauge how dark to make them. Photos don't really show the detail or color correctly. The chairs with flowers are in front of the Buen Dia Cafe.
We'll be at the Relox end of Pueblito the street which runs between Hidalgo and Relox. Don't forget your cameras, view finders, hats, paints etc. Stools if you need one for sitting.The forecast is predicting good sunny weather.  Donna

2014 Jan 27 th Monday plein air - afternoon in the jardin

Here's a quick post for the plein air on Monday, Jan. 27th  2pm in the Jardin. We will meet near the bandstand in the center. Weather forecast looks good so far.
The following week  Feb. 3rd we're planning to meet on Calle Pueblito at the Relox end. This is a short street between Relox and Hidalgo. It happens to have the best coffee in the area at the Buen Dia Cafe. Lots of Bougainvillea, and colorful houses. Morning shadows look good but I will check out the afternoon and see if it good then too. I will post the time we will meet later.

our 2nd annual student exhibition last evening was fantastic. Lots of people turned out to see what we've been doing. Great fiesta, and wonderful art. -very proud of all of you. Donna

2014 Jan.20th scenes from plein air today and next week announcement.

here's a scene from the Jardin where we were painting this morning. It was cool enough that we preferred to have the sun at our backs. You'll notice most of the people sitting in the sun, to warm up. Unfortunately Tom choice a place to paint from which was in the shade. He was freezing!

Jen , Rebecca and Cheryl painting the above scene. It was a challenge but fun to work with the yellows and reds and shadows.

Next week in the Jardin, Monday afternoon 2 pm weather cooperating of course. We'll meet sunny side of Jardin facing the Parrochia. Hope to see you all there. Unfortunately Jen will be back in Toronto!....adios Donna

Plein air for Monday Jan 20th

We had a photographer checking us out  last Monday when we were painting in front of the Parroquia. He got some nice photos of us and kindly passed them on to me to use as we wished  Thanks John from Pender Is.    ... I also hope to post the finished watercolor too. ..  Coming up on this Monday ( Jan 20th ) we will again meet in the jardin at 10 am til about 1 pm. We'll meet around the  front benches in the Jardin facing the Parroquia. at 10:00 The weather forecast looks good ! Clear and sunny. If the weather changes to overcast we'll cancel. Remember to bring your cameras, view finder ,  sketch book for thumbnail sketch , hat etc. Best to dress in layers then as it warms up you can take off a layer.  See you Monday everyone.  Donna

2014 Jan. 13 Monday plein air

In front of the Parroquia in San Miguel. This was the subject of our plein air this morning. Finally we  got a decent day. Lovely sunshine. I was attracted to the strong light and shade in this scene. Actually we did an afternoon painting as well. I'll post our paintings when I have the photos processed.  Linda and I did watercolors and Luc and Tom were working in oils. Lots of fun! We're hoping next Monday we will visit Luc's area and paint out at Cabras. Just outside of town towards Celaya.

Just a reminder of present class schedule in the studio. Wed. afternoon 1 til 4 pm watercolors....a morning class will be added as it fills up. Thursday / Friday in the studio 1 til 4 pm...oils and acrylics

Exhibition on display Saturday as well. 11 til 4 pm. Sunday pick up paintings.

2014 Plein air and studio classes

Morning Cafe 16" x 12" a recent  watercolor  -I found this scene in a local cafe. I love the play of light in this old colonial building in San Miguel.

Many students and familiar faces returning for winter classes, fun to see everyone again....and many are finding San Miguel a bit chilly. We've had unusually cloudy and rainy weather over Christmas and New Year's but hopefully the sun will be back.
 Classes right now are in the afternoons Wed., watercolors, Thurs., oils & acrylics and Fri., oils and acrylics 1 to 4pm
As classes fill I'll be adding a Wed. morning class - in that case it will be 9:30 to 12:30 with 1:30 to 4:30 for that afternoon class. Thurs. Fri. will stay the same.
Plein air Jan. 6th  We're planning to paint in or around the Jardin on Monday with nice sunny weather! We'll meet in the Jardin , the front facing the Parrochia side. Don't forget hats, cameras,view finder etc. If the weather is too overcast we will cancel. By the afternoon the weather is usually warmer and sunnier.
