July 30th 2012 Painting in the Jardin plein air 9:00

" Down by the Market "oil  9 x12 in. This is a plein air in oils from  a couple of weeks back. I really like this funky corner at the entrance to the market.

.
"Bajando Calle Piedras China", 11 x 15" watercolor - love this beautiful windy street. Very steep. At the bottom it narrows up and many vehicles are actually too wide to get through. Lots of scrapes on the walls!

It's a busy summer season so far. Lots of students in the studio painting in both watercolors and oils. Plein air students are rarer birds. I have also 3 young folks with another one about to join them. The girls Grace ,Emma and Lucy have been working in acrylics and watercolors.I'll get some photos of them for next week.
We'll be meeting in the Jardin at 9:00 am,Monday Jul 30th near the bandstand. Should be fun. Although Tom and I have  painted many scenes from the Jardin, there's always one more ! See you there. Donna

Mon. Julio 23 2012 San Miguel plein air

This is calle Huertas with just a bit of El Mantial showing on the left of the paper banners. Our plein air will be just up this alley to the next intersection. At Garza.
Hi to all you eager plein air painters. Our new location for Monday's plein air will be very near last  week's .This time near the corner of Huertas and Calle Garza. If you're coming  up from Barranca , Huertas goes up just beside the Bar El Mantial and a short block up, runs into Garza. Calle Garza also comes down from Salida a Quertero if you're on foot and runs into Huertas.I think it's one way up if you're driving. Right at that corner  are several possible scenes. Weather permitting we'll meet there at 9 am. Hope to see you soon. Sunhat (hoping for sun) , camera, snacks, and all.
PS a bit of  trivia Garza means Egret! There's a rock musician in town called David Garza! Hmmm  David Egret !  I guess there's already Donald Duck.   happy painting! Donna

San Miguel plein air Mon. July 16 / 12 9:00 am

A recent watercolor Amigas de Oaxca 16"x20" $500 US
For Monday July 16 - plein air -  (hopefully we'll not get rained out) We'll meet at a little church yard off Calle Piedras China. This the narrow street that descends steeply off Salida de Queretero, just past the Mirador as your leaving centro. About 1/2 way down Piedras China there's a little church . Off hand I can't remember the name of it. But if you can find Piedras China you can find the church. We'll meet there at around 9:00 am Should be fun- it's an interesting area. Bring a hat, camera , painting kit, snack, water and don't forget brushes! Like me last week!  :- (  Donna

San Miguel Allende Plein air Mon. Jul.9 2012

Ud.esta aqui! You are here, and this is Ginger and a little amiga. She was so cute. From Last Monday's painting just off the jardin.
Repeating last Mondays location as it was cancelled do to the rain.See you down near the market on Homobono! 9:00 am
Wow July already??? Tomorrow Sunday, Mexico goes to the polls to elect a new Presidente de la Republica and here in San Miguel also a new Mayor (who is also called presidente de la municipio )! Hopefully we'll get some good guys or gals!
Okay hope we have a good morning to paint on Monday at 9:00 am  So far our luck has held. With this being the "rainy" season we'll have to see. (Hard to call this rainy, coming from the west coast but we'll pretend) So weather permitting we'll be hanging out at the foot of  Cuesta de San Jose , which becomes Homobono towards the Ignacio Ramirez Market. Near the tortilleria  that blows hot tortillia exhaust at you when you walk by about head level! I have a similar situation walking to the gallery some mornings on my street . Just up the block someone has vented their clothes dryer to the street again at face level, I always forget and get blasted! Why do you need a dryer in this climate when it takes 5 min for your clothes to dry on a line  and even inside it might take an hour or so??Don't ask!   I digress lets get painting!  See you there. New painting Xilitla June 2012 and plein air this week

Market Day Xilitla, Mex.  24 x 30" oil

This is a painting from our recent trip to Xilitla in May. The jardin was filled with people as it was Sunday Market Day in town.  So colorful and exotic . I couldn't wait to start painting some of these great scenes.

Monday plein air we will meet just off the Jardin near on the Correo /Sollano corner or there about. Weather permitting. We've had some cloudy days lately so not sure what we will encounter on Monday. June 25 2012  9:00 am . If it looks iffy we can work in the studio. Happy painting everyone!
